Flow – Time – Depth – Area Calculator
Solves Q·t = A·d for whichever quantity you don't know: flow rate, application time, area irrigated, or depth applied. Works for any irrigation system, not just the textbook example.

d = Q × t / A

About this calculator
System flow rate (Q), time of application (t), area irrigated (A), and depth applied (d) are related by (assuming Q is constant over the application time):
Q × t = A × d
Pick which quantity you want to solve for, enter the other three, and choose the unit you'd like the answer reported in. This is the same relationship used to size a system's run time, check a design flow rate, or back-calculate area from a known application depth and time.
Textbook Example 3.1: A system delivers 900 gpm to 30 acres over
24 hours. Depth applied = 1.6 in. Click "Load textbook Example 3.1" above to see
it worked through.
